"IMSI-CATCHERS" AND "FAKE CELL TOWERS"

Foreign Powers and Local Law Enforcement Agencies have been known to Spy on Mobile/Cellular Phones using (so called) "Fake Cell Towers", also known as "IMSI-catchers". This is a way to Spy on Phone Users without having to Plant a Spy App on people's Phones.

These "Cell Spies" (as we prefer to call them) will mimic a Wireless Carrier Cell Tower, in order to force all nearby Mobile Phones and other Cellular Devices to Connect to it - so that "they" can Identify your Phone, and possibly listen in on your Phone Calls. Such "Cell Spy" Devices can be Hand-carried, or be mounted in Vehicles, Airplanes, Helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

The Police (in many Countries) are for instance known to use IMSI-Catchers in order to find out WHO is in a building, WHO are present at a Demonstration, etc. Once they receive the IMSIs of the Phones, they can Identify each Person by Phone Number and Name (probably with help from Mobile Operators).

This Type of IMSI-"Attacks" are known to only last for a very short time (a few seconds).

During a Self Learning Process, the App will "learn" all Base Stations (Cell Towers, or Networks) that are used by your Phone.

After the Self Learning Process has Completed, All new "Unknown" Networks will be Detected, Logged and Warned about.

QUICK START GUIDE

After the App has been Opened, touch the ENABLE Button.

Then Start the Self Learning Process, either by following the Dialog that is shown after you have Enabled "Cell Spy Catcher", or by touching the LEARNING Button (on the Green Screen).

That is all you need to do.

After the Self Learning Process is Completed, the App will Automatically start Detecting - and Warning you about - Unknown Network, e.g. Fake Cell Towers.

If you are interested in the technical details of this app, you will find lots of info in this FAQs Section, by having a look at the LOG and the List of Detected Networks - but you don't have to.

If you want to know more, please read here.

HOW TO USE THIS APP

The Purpose of this App is to Warn you about the Existence of so called "Fake Cell Towers" - also called "IMSI-Catchers" near you.

These are Equipment set up to Listen In on your Mobile/Cellular Phone Calls, etc.

Before the App can start Detecting UNKNOWN Networks (e.g. "Fake Cell Towers"), it must go through a Self Learning Process.

The Duration of the Self Learning Process must optionally first be selected on the Settings Page. If changed from the Default Value, it must be selected before the Self Learning Process is Started.

You should Start the Self Learning Process as Soon as Possible.

In order to Save the Battery, Networks are mainly checked at Fixed Intervals. You can select the Check Period on the Settings Page.

When the Self Learning process is COMPLETED, the App will begin Detecting UNKNOWN Networks - e.g. Fake Cell Towers.

All Detected Networks are Listed. Events are Optionally Logged. See the Settings page.

Please Note that when/while the App is DISABLED, it is NOT Active, and will then neither do any Self Learning - nor Detect Unknown Cell Towers.

Also note that the Log is meant for Special Technically Interested Users.

You don't have to look at it.

Nor do you have to look at the List Of All Detected Networks, or the Black List.

If you need a File of the Data for all Detected Networks (e.g. for Research Purposes), you can make a CSV File.

If you should NEVER happen to Catch a "Cell Spy" (i.e. a "Fake Cell Tower"), you should be pleased. Please don't jump to Conclusions, claiming that this App does not work.

See all SETTINGS here.
