How do I perform a factory reset on my mobile device?

What is a factory reset?

Performing a factory reset, also known as a hard reset or master reset, will erase all personal data, modifications, and settings on your device, reverting it to its original factory state.

There are three primary methods to initiate a factory reset: through the Settings menu, utilizing the physical buttons on your device, or by employing the SmartThings Find service.

To execute a factory reset, you will be required to enter your PIN, password, or unlock pattern.

Additionally, it's crucial to ensure that your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network before initiating the factory reset process.

Soft vs Hard reset

A soft reset is performed by turning a device on and off again. This will close any open applications and clear the memory of the device. Long term hard drive data is unaffected.
A hard reset is performed by completely resetting a device to its factory settings. Performing this kind of reset will permanently erase all the data on the device.

To perform a soft reset:

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to reveal the Quick settings panel

Backing up your device

When you perform a factory reset on Infiniti, your device will return to the state it was in when you initially received your Omerta Phone. This same principle applies to Omerta Digital as well.
A factory reset will permanently delete the following from your phone:
  1. All personal data
  2. Customised settings
  3. Applications downloaded from the Play Store
  4. Messages
  5. Contacts
  6. Photos
Therefore, before performing a factory reset, it is recommended that you first back up the data. You can use Samsung Smart Switch to back up your device as discussed here.
