Profiles & IMEI - obtaining access to the network
When an Omerta Encrypted SIM is inserted into a handset, it automatically installs a small applet known as SIM Toolkit. This app contains essential settings required for the service to function properly, along with a series of profiles necessary to gain authorization onto the phone network.
While the SIM IMEI number is not broadcasted for security reasons, certain properties associated with the IMEI number are still needed to obtain authorization for accessing a cell tower. To address this, the SIM includes multiple software profiles containing random parameters typically associated with the IMEI number.
By incorporating these parameters, the SIM can successfully complete the SER (Subscriber Equipment Registration) authorization calculation necessary to gain access to the phone network. This ensures the secure functioning of the Omerta Encrypted SIM without compromising data privacy.
